Fullbody
Feral (feathered) velociraptor (V. mongoliensis). Mostly grey-ish and brown feathers, a long stiff tail and a feather crest at the top of her head. Yellow eyes. Crest can perk up or lie down flat depending on mood / situation.
Feathers have striking red accents at the top of her chest as well as her wing arms and crest. The feather markings were heavily inspired by wallcreepers. Dotted markings (resembling those of Northern Flickers somewhat) going down her chest and also her back and the back of her head. Dots at the end of the feathers at her tail tip as well as three rings going around the base of her tail. Dots also above her eyes (“eyebrow dots”), a black line going from her muzzle to the end of her head. Muzzle itself is black. Face and upper body duotone with a lighter and darker grey-brown colour.
Wings have two claws at each wing arm tip, one below the other. Feet each have three claws, two smaller ones and one big sickle claw. Scutes (scale-like structures) on her feet and ankles and on her muzzle.
Characteristics / general infos
The tail moves as a rigid unit. It can sway, wag side to side, or tilt up or own, but cannot bend in the middle like a mammal’s (cf. dog’s) tail. Stiffened by bones.
Wings are flightless; used for display, balance (especially during prey capture), and thermoregulation. Wing claws assist in gripping larger prey and climbing but aren’t used for actually slashing or hurting prey.
Feathers can fluff up some, especially when cuddling or affectionate or when alert. Crest can be quite expressive too, able to perk it up more or make it lie down completely flat depending on mood and current disposition. Scared or sad moods can make the crest lie down flat, whereas happier moods (or when alert) can make it stand up more.
Sickle claw is used for stabbing, not slashing.
Despite identifying as female, she has some more “boyish” traits as well and generally refers to herself as a “tomboy” to some degree.
Preferences
Likes to stomp around and grow and be big (definitely heavily macro-leaning at times). Pronounced hunting instinct and likes to pounce and attack things (even playfully). Likes to cuddle.
Does not like being touched on her wings and especially crest without asking, those being very sensitive and private areas. Same goes for the feathery tail tip. Only touch after having asked.
